More than a century since railroad bells were rung and train whistles blown for the first time, quiet has returned to the Kewaunee and Door County countryside. A "rails to trails" conversion has removed the tracks. During spring, summer, and fall hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and horse-drawn carts and wagons share the trail. In winter, cross country skiers and snowmobilers whisk across its frosty surface.
